Wish and Would

If the person who speaks is not satisfied with the current situacion and expresses his/her feelings, wish....would... is a good option.

Si la persona que habla no está satisfecha con la situación actual y expresa sus sentimientos, "wish...would.." es una buena opción.

Examples:

I wish Tom would study more istead of being speaking all the time. Desearía que Tom estudiara más en vez de estar hablando todo el tiempo.

I wish they would come soon. Desearía que vinieran pronto.

I wish he wouldn't sing when I'm working. (It shows a complain about something which happens repeatedly) Desearía que él no cantara cuando estoy trabajando. (Muestra una queja sobre algo que sucede repetidamente)

IMPORTANT NOTE:

With "HAVE" and "BE" use "Subject + wish + subject + past/past perfect. Con "TENER" y "SER/ESTAR" utilizar "Sujeto + wish + sujeto + pasado/pretérito pluscuamperfecto".

Examples:

I wish I were in Egypt. Desearía estar en Egipto. (Sitación del presente)

I wish I had a better coat. Desearía tener un mejor abrigo. (Situación del presente)

I wish I had had more time. Desearía haber tenido más tiempo. (Situación del pasado)
