English Grammar: -ing or infinitive

Complete each sentence with a suitable form of the verb in brackets.

Basic rules:

Mean (Intend) (Pretender - querer)
 I mean to finish the homework. [ + to infinitive ] 

Forget (Olvidar)
 Don't forget to call when you arrive. [ + to infinitive ] (= don't forget to do it) (=no olvidar hacerlo)
 I remember visiting my grandparents when I was a child [ +  -ing  verb ]  (= I did it and I still remember it)(=lo hice y todavía lo recuerdo)

Try (Intentar)
 Paul tried to arrive on time. [ + to infinitive ] (=make an effort) (=hacer un esfuerzo)
 Why don't you try mixing these two colours? [ +  -ing  verb ]  (an experiment or test) (un experimento o test)

Avoid (Evitar)
 They are trying to avoid playing the match by Monday. [ +  -ing  verb ] 
  
Suggest (Sugerir)
 Elizabeth suggested going to the theatre together.[ +  -ing  verb ]
